The challenge and excitement of personal exploration is woven into every one of Heidi Minga’s yoga classes. A Los Angeles native with North Dakota roots, Heidi’s enthusiasm for yoga began in 1991. With 22 years of on-again off-again personal practice at local gyms, she took the layoff from her sales job in 2011 as a sign – it was time to do something she loved.
In 2012, Heidi became a RYT 200, graduating from the yoga teacher training program at True Nature School of Yoga. Just recently she completed an additional 300 hour program through the Soul of Yoga earning the designation ERYT-200/RYT-500. Heidi also completed a specialized 100 hour “Yoga of the Heart” cardiac and cancer certification. This was to fulfill a calling she had to help those living with cancer (and heart disease) and their caregivers. Heidi lost her mother at the young age of 56 to cancer followed by both of her grandmothers to the same disease. Heidi knows first hand the ups and downs of living with the disease and the toll it can take on patients and their caregivers.
Heidi is also a certified MELT instructor, a self-treatment for the connective tissue and neurocore. Along with Hand, Foot, and Roller Treatment Training, Heidi is also one of only a handful of instructors nationwide to be certified in MELT Strength: a combination of neuromuscular repatterning and strengthening techniques to repair the weak links that damage joints and prevent the body’s ability to function pain-free.
In addition to being one of the owners of Be Well and teaching their Yoga for Cancer Recovery classes, Heidi also teaches yoga and MELT classes at Yoga Branch in Vista, CA, Yoga Bound in Carlsbad, CA, and Black Sheep Yoga in Oceanside, CA. Heidi currently teaches a Be Well Yoga for Cancer Recovery class on Tuesdays at Yoga Six in Carlsbad.
In her free time, she loves to go hiking, stand up paddle boarding, and cultivating her garden.
