As a valued member of our community, we want to share some important news with you about the next exciting phase of our mission.
A guiding principle for Chopra, since its inception as a company 30 years ago, has been to support personal transformation for collective well-being.
The company has made impact through its many evolutions: from the Chopra Center to successor programs at CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa and Lake Nona; events throughout the world; mail-order physical products that will soon re-launch online, certification programs delivered in-person and then online, and additional content delivered through audio cassettes and DVDs to newsletters, social media, and online, programming from PBS to YouTube, and apps that were precursors to the Chopra Meditation & Well-being App.
Other core principles for Chopra are self-awareness and infinite flexibility. To that end, after deep reflection, we have decided that over the next year we will transition away from offering live events.
2023 will be the last year for Chopra live events as they’re currently offered.
In addition to changes in the world that have impacted our ability to plan and hold live events, we recognize that it is time to give our founder (and my father), Deepak Chopra, the flexibility to serve the community and share his teachings in new ways.
As Chopra Global evolves, our focus will be digital education; sharing the timeless teachings of meditation, Ayurveda, and yoga in a variety of forms.
Accordingly, a key priority for us moving forward is to explore ways in which we can support our educators around the world, so they can continue to share Deepak’s legacy. We are working on several key initiatives in this regard that we look forward to announcing soon, so if becoming a Chopra Educator is something you’ve considered, stay tuned—there are so many exciting things to come.
But for now, there are several upcoming opportunities in 2022 and 2023 to come together and celebrate the unique magic of Chopra’s transformational retreats.
We’re committed to making our final events extra special—a year of beautiful grand finales inspired by the memories we’ve made over 25 years of Chopra Retreats.
Our retreats have been gatherings where people have found love, inspiration, and connection, and experienced transformational healing.
If you’ve attended one of our events in the past, you know the synchronistic magic that happens at Chopra events. We’d love for you to have a chance to experience it one final time.
And if you’ve never been to one of our events because you’ve been waiting for the right time…I urge you to come and experience the power of this community in person.
Join us for Silent Awakenings (Yosemite, CA), Well Within (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA), 7 Spiritual Laws (Marco Island, FL), Infinite Possibilities (San José del Cabo, Mexico), and Seduction of Spirit (The Big Island of Hawaii). You can learn more about our final retreats here.
Join us in presence, joy, and most of all, gratitude for the beautiful memories we’ve made, and the countless lives we’ve touched and will continue to impact as we move forward.
In love and gratitude,
CEO, Chopra Global
Why has Chopra Global made the decision to discontinue live events (large destination retreats) after 2023?
A guiding principle for Chopra, since its inception as a company 30 years ago, has been to support personal transformation for collective wellbeing. The company has made impact through its many evolutions: from the Chopra Center in La Jolla, then Carlsbad, California, to successor programs at CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa and Lake Nona; events throughout the world; physical products that were once sold through a mail catalog and will soon re-launch via the web; certification programs delivered in-person and then online, including the newly introduced Coaching Certification; and additional content delivered through every medium imaginable – from audio cassettes and DVDs to newsletters, social media, and an array of web content, programming from PBS to YouTube, and apps such as the 21 Day Meditation and Ananda apps that were precursors to the Chopra Meditation & Wellbeing App.
Other core principles for Chopra are self-awareness and infinite flexibility. To that end, after deep reflection, we have decided to transition from the event business as currently conducted. Our intent is do what is best for the long term for the business, but also give Deepak the flexibility to explore his passions with more freedom and support his desire to pass the torch on to a new generation of teachers.
Are the retreats on the website the final ones? Are there more that are going to be released?
The retreats on our website, in addition to a Seduction of Spirit (Meditation Immersion) on the Big Island of Hawaii in June 2023, are the final retreats Chopra Global currently plans to offer.
As Chopra continues to evolve, there is the potential for us to introduce new ways for our community to gather together, especially our growing roster of Chopra Certified Teachers and Coaches. Having said that, we are not planning any other retreats at this time and we are certain that this will be the final time we will offer these particular events that we have collectively held dear for so many years.
What are the plans for Chopra Health Retreat at CIVANA Wellness Resort and Spa? Or the Mind-Body Zone and Spa in Lake Nona?
Will we be able to see Deepak at one of these locations?
The Chopra Health Retreat at CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa, the successor to the Perfect Health program previously offered at the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, California, continues to be offered two times per month in Carefree, Arizona. This 5-day program, which is designed for personal detox, healing, and physical/social/spiritual transformation, is delivered by CIVANA’s exceptional staff, most of whom are Chopra educated health practitioners.
We plan to have Chopra faculty participate in the Chopra Health Retreat from time to time and while this may include Deepak again at some point in the future, there are no current plans for him to be at CIVANA after his participation in the October 9th Chopra Health Retreat week.
At Lake Nona, the Chopra Mind-Body Zone will continue to provide programming for members. Deepak regularly visits Lake Nona for the Chopra Foundation, Impact Forum, and other work.
What does this mean for the future of the company if Chopra doesn’t have live events anymore? What does this mean for the Chopra brand?
Deepak Chopra’s mission has consistently been to help catalyze a more peaceful, just, sustainable, and healthy world. He will continue this work through his other activities with Chopra Global, among additional endeavors like his books, podcasts, articles, media appearances, third-party events, partnerships, and engagements with governments, institutions and enterprises, as well as via the Chopra Foundation. Chopra Global, like it has in the past, will continue to educate and provide individuals with tools and guidance for personal transformation. In addition, we are committed to expanding our support for the already 4K+ Chopra Certified Teachers and Coaches around the world and to finding new ways to help them carry forward the legacy of Deepak by making impact in their communities.
Will Chopra Global be expanding digital offerings – more certifications, digital retreats, etc.?
Yes. We have new programs in the pipeline, including new certifications and other digital programming, that we are excited to bring to market in the near future.
Is Deepak still working with Chopra Global? Does Deepak still plan to be involved in the company? How so?
Will Deepak still be doing speaking engagements without Chopra Global?
Will there be any more opportunities to see Deepak speak?
Deepak doesn’t work for Chopra Global, though it is the vehicle through which many of his teachings will continue to be disseminated throughout the world for generations to come. That said, he is a shareholder and close advisor to the company and provides ongoing support to Chopra Global’s operations through his contributions to the certification programs and new digital content offered through the Chopra App, educational courses, and social activities. Mallika Chopra, his daughter, is currently the CEO of the company. As a family, the Chopra’s are focused on the most impact Deepak can make in the world, as well as his legacy, and Chopra Global is an important part of that.
Outside of Chopra Global, just as he has always done, Deepak will participate in speaking engagements and will continue to pursue other activities that further his mission to help catalyze a more peaceful, just, sustainable, and healthy world.
What if I book a new retreat and need to cancel?
Please note that space is very limited at our remaining retreats and your enrollment may preclude another individual from being able to attend. Accordingly, your purchase is only refundable upon a cancellation within 36 hours of purchase. In the event you cancel your attendance at a retreat following 36 hours and up until 45 days prior to the retreat, you will receive a program voucher (“PV”) in the amount you paid for the retreat. In the event you cancel your attendance at a retreat following the date that is 45 days prior to the retreat, the amount of your PV will be reduced by an event-specific cancellation fee. No PV will be provided in the event of a cancellation on or after the day the retreat you are scheduled to attend begins.
PVs may be used to purchase any Chopra product or service, expressly excluding attendance at the Chopra Health Retreat at CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa, and expire eighteen (18) months following their issuance. Please note that due to the pending cessation of Chopra retreats, and given the limited availability of future retreats, your PV may only be eligible for use in connection with Chopra digital products, including our Meditation, Health and Coaching Certification programs, and any consumer products we may offer.
What if I am a teacher that needs to recertify and have always attended retreats to meet my recertification requirements?
In order to maintain active status as a Chopra Certified Teacher or Coach you must recertify every two years. Starting in early 2023, we will begin offering online continuing education courses that satisfy the recertification requirement – the cost of these courses, at no more than $300, will be materially less than retreat attendance.
