Fear and lack of self-confidence almost stopped me from starting this life-changing journey. I took a leap of faith and am forever grateful to Deepak Chopra for introducing me to the importance of meditation and how beneficial it can be to ourselves and those around us.

What is Primordial Sound Meditation
Can you think of a better way to connect with your true nature?
Primordial Sound Meditation is a form of mantra meditation, which is rooted in India’s ancient Vedic tradition and revived by Deepak by conferring with Vedic scholars in India and the U.S. to bring this practice into the modern world and make it accessible to anyone who seeks its benefits.
Primordial Sound Meditation uses mantras as a vehicle to help your mind experience expanded levels of awareness to help you slip into the “gap,” which is the stillness between your thoughts and where that beautiful feeling of peace and calm exists. But in our Meditation Foundations course, you receive a personalized mantra, based on the sound the universe was making at the time and place of your birth.
When you chant this mantra aloud or repeat it silently during meditation, you will achieve a state of deeper awareness, which supports whatever intentions you set for your life—from healing and personal growth to inner awakening.

FAQ
Where did Chopra’s mantra-based meditation style come from?
Based on the ancient Vedic traditions from India, this technique and the mantras used in this technique go back many thousands of years. However, this technique was recently revived and updated by Drs. Deepak Chopra and David Simon so that it could be easily and effectively practiced in the world today.
Where do the mantras come from?
The mantras are made up of primordial sounds, which are the most basic, essential sounds of nature. The wind blowing through the trees, the waves crashing on the shore, and the laughter of children are all forms of primordial sounds. We use Primordial Sound mantras because they are the natural sounds that the universe makes during different times throughout the lunar cycle and they have the effect of taking our awareness within, to the most essential state of our being.
Is mantra-based meditation a religion?
It is not a religion. It is a spiritual practice that takes our level of awareness to the level of our spirit, which is the same spirit that connects everything in creation. In fact, many people of different religions now practice mantra-based meditation without any conflict with their religious views or practices, and they have found that the meditation enhances
their religious beliefs and practices.
What is the difference between Chopra’s mantra-based meditation and other meditation techniques?
The goal of Chopra’s mantra-based meditations is to take our awareness to a very quiet level where we eventually slip beyond thought into pure silence, pure awareness. The mantras used and the method by which they are selected, make this technique different from any other mantra-based meditation.
While most meditation techniques promote relaxation and stress relief, Chopra’s mantra-based meditation goes even deeper, helping you to also access the silent space between your thoughts and experience your true, unbounded self. In this practice you use a personal mantra based on the time, date and location of your birth, to take you beyond the mind into an experience of pure awareness. That mantra is calculated using Vedic mathematics to determine the vibration of the universe at the time of your birth.
Does everyone have a different mantra?
There are approximately 108 mantras. As the lunar cycle moves through all 108 mantras, they will then repeat. Depending on the date, time, and location of one’s birth, that person may have the same mantra as another person whose birth details lined up in the same way.
Is it okay to meditate with other people?
Yes! In fact, when we meditate we create a certain coherence, or a certain amount of positive energy around us. When we meditate with other people, we share in everyone’s coherence and positive energy. It has been reported that the effect of meditating with other people—the amount of coherence that is generated when we meditate in a group—is greater than the sum of the individual parts. If you enjoy meditating with other people, by all means we recommend doing it on a regular basis.
How long will it be before I start to notice the benefits of my mantra-based meditation?
The benefits will start to accumulate from the first time you start meditating. If you continue to meditate on a regular basis the benefits will come at whatever speed and at whatever rate is easiest for your body to assimilate them. Everyone progresses at his or her own rate. If you ask how long it will take to get to the top of the Empire State building, the answer will depend on what floor you get onto the elevator. Some people get on at the 10th floor and some people get on at the 25th floor. So it is with meditation. We all grow and evolve at whatever rate is most appropriate for us. Sometimes we notice the benefits immediately. Sometimes it is weeks or months before we really notice the changes. Sometimes it is other people who notice the changes in us before we notice them. As long as you are meditating regularly, the benefits continue to accrue.
Will I need to change my lifestyle when I practice Chopra’s mantra-based meditation style?
There are no required lifestyle changes. The only adjustment you will need to make is to allow the time to meditate regularly. Other than that, any changes in your life will come automatically and spontaneously. Some of the bad non-nurturing habits you have will start to drop off and other, better habits will come into your life.
Is meditation like being asleep or in a trance?
Not at all. Being asleep and being in a trance are both usually a state of restful dullness. There is very little awareness. When we meditate we are at a heightened state of awareness. The state of meditation is referred to as a state of restful alertness.
Is it okay to move and change my position during meditation?
Yes. Anytime you feel discomfort during your meditation simply change your position. If you need to scratch your ear, go ahead and scratch it. Just know that your meditations will be more comfortable if you start off in a comfortable position.
What if I forget my mantra at some point in the future?
We will provide you with a downloadable mantra card. It will have your personal mantra written on it. We suggest that you print it out and keep it in a place where you meditate.
