Kayse Budd, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist and trained general practitioner with a wealth of knowledge and experience in integrative approaches to psychiatry, general medicine, and healing. Dr. Budd is a graduate of Duke University, the University of Michigan Medical School, Swedish Family Practice Internship (Seattle, WA), and the University of Arizona Psychiatry Residency. She is a skilled psychotherapist, herbalist, certified yoga instructor, advanced meditator/meditation instructor, professional-level astrologer, artist/art therapist, and healer.
Dr. Budd hosted and facilitated numerous programs at her own healing center, including a monthly mind-body-spirit women's group, Chinese herbal medicine workshop, mixed-media art therapy program, energy medicine healing rituals, yoga and meditation classes, dance therapy, and more. She has completed 5- and 10-day meditation retreats with the Shambhala Mountain Center in Colorado and Spirit Rock in Northern California. Dr. Budd trained in mind-body skills group facilitation with the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, D.C., and in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Jon Kabat Zinn, Ph.D. at the Center for Mindfulness in Massachusetts. She has been on a dedicated healing path for most of her life, exploring the restorative power of nature, art, and food since childhood. She has been studying herbalism, energy medicine, shamanic skills, and astrology for over 15 years and yoga/meditation for close to 20 years. Dr. Budd is the founder of expressive art therapy programs at both Duke University and the University of Michigan hospitals.
Dr. Budd was the director of a large body-image/eating disorder education program for the entire Ann Arbor public school system while in medical school. She also founded stress-relief programs for teens in Ann Arbor, and for teens and adults in Telluride, Colorado. She is currently an adjunct faculty member at the University of Arizona Medical School/Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, where she has been teaching classes such as Holistic Approaches to Psychiatry, Stress and Spirituality, Art as Medicine, and EcoPsychology since 2009.
Dr. Budd’s specialties include stress-relief, empowerment, anxiety, mild depression, self-esteem, body image/eating disorders, mild bipolar disorder/mood stability, self-love/compassion, relationships, general holistic health, psychosomatic issues, and helping people find their dharma (path/purpose).
