Joseph Weiss, M.D.

Joseph B. Weiss is a gastroenterologist, clinical professor, and author of more than 10 books on health. Weiss, who is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, has more than 30 years of clinical, administrative, and research experience.

He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center in Orange, California. Dr. Weiss completed a clinical and research fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California, San Diego, where he has been an active member of the clinical faculty for more than 30 years. He is currently Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at UCSD.

Dr. Weiss co-hosts a health care radio program in Southern California and is a frequent speaker at universities, medical schools, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies. He’s given more than 2,000 presentations in his career, including to audiences at the Young President’s Organization/World President’s Organization, Aspen Institute, Bohemian Grove, and Esalen Institute.

Dr. Weiss has pursued interests in tropical medicine and international medicine with extended stays in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. He’s been a fellow of numerous organizations, including American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American College of Gastroenterology.

He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Scripps Clinic Medical Group, Clinical Board of Governors of the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, and Chancellor’s Associates of UCSD.
