Today is a good day for war to come to an end. As we begin June 2008, an estimated 41 armed military conflicts are being fought throughout the world. In the Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Congo, Burma, and elsewhere, the collective subconscious is erupting with rage and violence. It’s a good day for these wars to come to an end. But is it possible? War has dominated human history for so long that it’s easy to believe that violence is an innate response and that warfare is inevitable. Keep Reading Where's Deepak![]()

Being Peace
This issue of Namasté brings the message of peace right into your home. And as Lao Tzu’s timeless words resonate, if there is to be peace in your home, there must be peace in your heart. We transform the world most effectively by transforming ourselves, and this issue of Namasté is filled with various tools to help you transform your heart into a beacon of peace. It is not a difficult task – simply one that requires willingness, awareness, and surrender to an ideal that is easily attainable, one heart at a time. Each day, The Chopra Center is flooded with requests from those looking to spread the message of Peace. If everyone who receives this Namasté passes it on to at least 5 other people, and each of those individuals pass it on to 5 more, by sunrise tomorrow more than 10 million people will have touched a piece of peace and begun a global peace transformation. Click here to “Pass the Peace.” We can shift the global consciousness by creating this subtle shift within ourselves and change the world before we’ve even logged off our computers for the night. The power to do this rests within your keyboard, your mouse, and most deeply in your heart. We invite you to immerse yourself in this Namasté of Peace, where Deepak announces “War Ends Today” and David Simon’s article provides you with a powerful daily practice to create your own personal peace transformation. Our featured seminar is “The Peace Event of the Year" – the Seduction of Spirit taking place next month in Dublin, Ireland. This month’s poetry and timeless words of wisdom from rishis and prophets of peace will allow you to rest more easily on your pillow. As Deepak has written in The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, “Today my awareness will remain established in Defenselessness. I will relinquish the need to defend my point of view. I will feel no need to convince or persuade others to accept my point of view. I will remain open to all points of view and not be rigidly attached to any one of them.” Embracing defenseless in our relationships, our interactions with co-workers, our yoga and meditation practices – and especially in the ongoing dialog we have with ourselves – will give us the opportunity to innocently bring peace into our very souls, even if only for the day. And then of course . . . there’s always tomorrow. We hope you feel peaceful and inspired to pass the peace to your friends, relatives, colleagues & acquaintances. Peace makes no demands. Peace carries no secret agenda. Peace requires no forcing or additional effort. It is already who we are – we need only to BE it. In peace, P.S. Please share your comments, questions, and suggestions with us Meditation Q&AQ: How does using a mantra quiet the mind during meditation? A: During meditation, you are not actually quieting the mind but are entering deeper levels of awareness and silence that always exist beyond the noisy mental chatter. A mantra is a sound or vibration that allows the mind to experience this peace and stillness. As you silently repeat your mantra, the mind sympathetically resonates with the mantra’s subtle energetic impulses. The resonant structure of the mantra mimics the fundamental properties of the field of pure awareness, taking you into that timeless, spaceless field of all possibilities. What We're Reading
